Programme note and biography...

|
As a child Dylan started music lessons at the age of 4 under the tutelage of Richard Chandler. He attended St. Edward's School (Romford, Essex), where he was taught his secondary music education by Ian Claydon, often performing solo piano in their seasonal concerts. There in 2003, he was given the Jack Petchey award for his “Outstanding achievements in music”. Dylan graduated his music studies with honours at Colchester Institute, where he studied piano with Australian pianist Lesley Young, and composition with Dr Mark Bellis.
In March 2009, Dylan won Colchester Institute’s Canon Jack Award for solo piano adjudicated by Andrew Ball. He was awarded 2nd place in The Roy Teed Cup for Composition earlier this year adjudicated by Vincent Lindsay-Clarke who dubbed his entry Sonatina Rushford as “Sparkling...with just the right balance of grandioso writing throughout...”. Dylan has played in a master class with award-winning pianist Victor Sangiorgio, and showcased his compositions to Philip Cashian, head of Composition at the Royal Academy of Music and Jeffery Wilson, faculty of Composition at the Guild Hall School of Music & Drama.
Though still in the early stage of his career, Dylan has composed numerous works, some of which have been performed and uploaded to the popular video site YouTube. He also gives lunchtime and evening piano recitals in and around Colchester.
This site was originally created as an online portfolio for Dylan's musical works, but since its creation in 2006 it has grown into a portal site allowing for a more dynamic and interactive experience.
